October, Geez if that wasn't crazy!
Holy crap, just just, holy crap what a month. Yeah yeah, I'm aware that at the time I'm writing this, it is still in fact October, but its close enough for me! This month has been extremely busy and all over the map, and I just had to write about it.
Surprisingly enough, this is the first Sunday morning all month that I have all by myself. The whole rest of the month I spent driving all over the place, visiting various places and people. I put on about 1,600 miles on my Fusion this month alone. No matter how you cut it, that is a lot of action for someone like me! So lets do a little recap of what all happened this month.
Way back at the beginning of the month, which seems so freaking far away at this point, I was lucky enough to go camping with a bunch of people. The only problem with this trip was that it involved me driving all the way down to Bethel to meet up with my dad. Unfortunately, as most know, this is a 2 hour drive, and I had to do it on a Friday night, which adds just that much more frustration to the ordeal. So right after work, I had to rush home so that I would have time to get changed, finish packing stuff up, and get to the camp site before it got unreasonably late. Somehow after all the rushing, we managed to get there, and have a great time. We did a lot of work at the shelter, and its just all the much more closer to being completely finished.
Jumping ahead once week in time we have the trip to Ski Denton. I've already taken the liberty of blogging on the subject, and to provide double coverage you can always check out Rob's post on the subject. That was an all around awesome time, but again left me with precious little weekend time for other things.
Last weekend was another great, but busy weekend. After much confusion as to the actual destination of our trip, Rob and I finally settled on going to Blue Marsh for a long bike ride. We were supposed to go to Philly to see Mike, but things became very confusing as the week went along, and we were left with no plan. Being programmers, and not very creative, we went with the backup plan rather than NO plan. So off to Camp Hill it was to meet up with Rob.
Due to a plan requiring a much longer driving distance, I was left with a vacation day that was "unneeded". No way in hell would I not take it, so I made other arrangements to keep myself busy until Rob got off of work that day. I ended up driving down to Harrisburg early in the afternoon to go see my sister for a few hours. This worked out great from a traffic standpoint. I was able to do most of my driving before the traffic became ungodly heavy.
After I finally made it over to Rob's place, we were stuck with the conundrum of what the hell to do so that we weren't just sitting around all night. After grabbing some food, we ended up going to shoot pool. This is were I learned an important fact, I absolutely suck at pool. This is not to say that it was not a good time, its just that by the end of it, people were starting to look at me funny for the epic amount of suckatude emanating from my cue. Needless to say, we only played for like an hour before we decided to try another sport.
Lucky for us, there was a bowling ally but a half mile away. So on to bowling we went. Yeah, there's another sport I don't exactly r0x0r at. By the end of our hour and a half time limit, we were just haplessly chucking the ball down the lane hoping to hit anything. Another great time, but not something I could do all the time. No matter how you look at it though, I did more in that single Friday night than I normally do in an entire month!
Saturday brought the Blue Marsh trip, 19 miles of glorious single/double track riding. The weather was so perfect, it was hard to believe it was October. Other than a slight detour into a pricker bush thanks to a wet muddy bridge, it was an uneventful trip. Oh almost forgot, Biker Chick, she does exist, she is beautiful, and she is very polite. That is to say we ran into a very nice girl who was also out for a ride that day, although she was much faster than either of us, so we didn't get to chat very long before she rode off into the sunset.
Fast forward to this weekend. This weekend brought a visit from Ken. Luckily this trip involved no long drives for me, as I was getting a little tired of driving all over the damn place. In typical fashion, Ken and I didn't really do a whole lot other than chill out. We played some guitar, some games, and ate. It was a perfect opposite of my previous three weeks, and well appreciated.
Oh well I am going to wrap this up for now, and go do some laundry.
