Denton Hill, Awesome as always!
What more is there to say about Ski Denton other than amazing. It is hard at times to put into words properties such as awesomeness. All in all, every ride at this wonderful place continues to raise the bar as far as excitement and enjoyment are concerned.
The conditions for this weekend were a little questionable at the beginning of the week, but it turned out to be a wonderful fall day. Sure the weather was a tad cool, with it hovering in the high 40's though the morning, however by the third run down the hill we were nice and warm from the riding. One of the benefits of the questionable conditions was that the place was completely empty. Rob and I were the only riders the whole day. This of course let us have our pick of runs with no worry about other riders. There was also not a single line to be found at the lift station, although I feel the poor lifties were a bit sick of seeing us by the end of the day.
All in all I must say that I was very impressed by Rob's riding. He was a little hesitant on the first run, but after he took his first tumble, he quickly dusted off the jitters and kept on trucking full speed down good ole number 9. Considering it was his first time mountain biking, and his first ride on a new rig, it was amazing how well he adjusted. By the end of the day he was even able to clear 22 -> 9 without a single step off. For those not familiar, 22 is a fairly technical and steep trail which requires you to manage your braking very closely. It also requires you to be able to push the front down into a dip and pull it out the other side while on a 50 degree slope, this sort of thing requires a combo of skill and faith to do without bailing out.
I was quite disappointed that Spyke wasn't able to make the trip, as I feel it would have added just that much more fun to the trip. Things come up at times though, and I can't be too upset or mad that he bailed on us, as he had a valid reason, its just a little more warning would have been nice!
Other than a few very very strange looks at McDonalds, it was about the best thing that I could have done on a nice fall day.. Well.... I can think of one other thing.......
