Fall for Autumn
Ah the fall, one of the most wonderful times of the year. The weather is becoming more tolerable, the scenery more beautiful, and the wildlife more spectacular. The only downside to the fall is the horrible lack of daylight as the days get shorter. The only thing to do is enjoy them while they last.
I was really hoping to get another trip to Ski Denton in this season, but it just appears that it will not be happening. There just isn't enough time in the short second season at 'Denton to allow everybody to decide upon a weekend for the long trip. I really think it would be slightly better the second time around (as if thats possible, it was the most fun I've ever had the first time!), as we now know the trails, and can fly even faster down the hills, and possibly get a few more trips up the lift. If we do miss it, it will just be postponed to next year, where I guarantee we will revisit PA's premiere Lift Assisted Mountain Biking location, there's just no way to avoid it!
The added benefit for this fall will be the new fork for my bike. It will be here soon enough which will finally bring to a close the reconstruction of my Kona to something more trail worthy than the entry level beast I purchased. The addition of the RockShox Tora should really improve the overall handling of the bike, and make it much less fatiguing to ride on. With any luck, I will get much use out of it this fall, and more importantly, this winter.
For as good as fall riding is, winter riding is that much more fun. Although I don't get to do it much, there is nothing quite as enjoyable as a thrash though the woods with a slight dusting of snow on the trail. The cold weather biting at your lungs as you work though a barely viable path is just something to experience. I hope this year will be even better than the last.
(Yeah I know I sorrta piggybacked on Rob's post over at Makeshift Solutions but hey, I felt it was a good topic!)
Anyway, You know where to find me,
Kevin
